I've been using Realash eyelash enhancer for one month now, the product promises longer and thicker lashes after at least 3 months.

You guys know me, you can be sure I missed a few days here and there, but I did notice that my eyelashes started to get thicker and develop another layer on top of the hairs I already had!

I wish I had a fantastic camera to capture what I'm describing, but I don't, I also realised that as my lashes are growing longer,they tend to curl upward, so it's not exactly obvious that it's growing unless until I apply a mascara. I forgot to take pictures BEFORE applying my mascara to properly compare with last month's pictures, but oh well....I love what I'm seeing and these will serve as my "before" shots when I do another review.

Happy new year!!!! *throws confetti* 2015 was a pretty interesting year for me and  I believe 2016 is going to be even better.

I know I haven't been around for a while, but I'm back with a update: this year, I will be growing out my lashes using a very interesting product called Realash.



REALASH is an eyelash enhancer that promises to fortify, increase density and lengthen your eyelashes.
The bottle is only 3ml, but it's stated to last for 4-5 months.
It comes with a sterile applicator brush that makes it easy to apply to your eyelids, like an eyeliner.
For best results, it is recommended to apply Realash nightly directly over the skin of the eyelid, after removing your make up.
First results are claimed to be seen after 30 days!

You know I'm all about growth, and with all that said, here are the "before" snapshots of my eyelashes.

Have you tried any eyelash enhancer before?

A lot of ladies are becoming aware that their hair can be long and healthy, but some are still having issues with breakage. So I decided to do this very detailed post on how I reduce tangles and breakage on wash day. Thankfully, I'm starting with 3 weeks old cornrows, so I have my work cut out for me! Here's how it went:

Products used:

-Spray bottle with only water
-MG Deep Conditioner
-MG Stimulating Shampoo
-V05 Silky Experiences Moisturizing Conditioner
-MG Daily Leave-in Strengthener
-MG Growth Oil mixed with Castor oil
-Fantasia IC Serum

The Process:

1. I sprayed water on my hair before taking down the cornrows. This helps to make unraveling easier as the hair is made soft with moisture.

2. Once I was done, I didn't immediately grab a comb and started detangling. Doing this would definitely increase your chances of breakage. Instead, apply some oil or conditioner to give it slip and leave on for 10-15 minutes before you start to comb. If you are not a fan of too much product on your hair, you could simply spray sections of your hair, apply some oil, then detangle. Works like magic, trust me.


So I sectioned hair into four quadrants, applied my deep conditioner (on my dry hair) generously to each quadrant, covered with a plastic bag, put on my satin scarf and bonnet (you don't have to use both, I just like to overdo things!) then left it in overnight.


Tip: For even distribution of product, make smaller sections within each quadrant and apply the conditioner the same way you would apply a relaxer, but from root to tip instead.

3. The next day, after getting a good 8 hours sleep, I took off the plastic bag and proceeded to detangle my hair. When detangling, you want to work in small sections and use a wide-tooth comb to gently comb from your ends all the way up to your roots. Starting from the ends helps to give way for the shed hairs that would be coming from the top of your head and is less likely to snag on the rest of your hair. After detangling, I put my hair in 12 box braids to get ready for the shampoo process. This is how much hair I lost after detangling my whole head, after 3 weeks of no combing.


4. I put my shampoo in a applicator bottle and dilute it with just enough water to loosen up the consistency, but not to turn it completely to liquid. The applicator tip makes it easier for the shampoo to get to my scalp without drying out the rest of my hair. Prior to this method, shampooing used to tangle my hair and cause inevitable break by the time I was ready to detangle.

5. While rinsing out the shampoo, I noticed that the braids weren't allowing the products to be rinsed out completely, so I changed the braids to loose twists, rinsed thoroughly, applied my silky experiences conditioner for 2-5 minutes, then rinsed thoroughly again.


6. I use a cotton T-shirt instead of a towel to dry my hair because the grooves on a regular towel snags the hair and causes breakage that we are not even aware of. I wrap the  T-shirt around my head for about 10 minutes to soak up allbthe excess water and prepare for the next step.

7. I applied my leave ins: MG daily leave in strenghtener and Fantasia IC serum as my heat protectant and blow dried in sections, focusing on my roots. I blow dried on a low setting as heat tends to dry out hair really quickly. Once I was done, I put it up in a bun until I was ready to cornrow.

How are you dealing with breakage?

Whew! What a mouthful right? I actually got this product just because of the fragrance, this is the most sweet-smelling Vo5 conditioner I've come across, plus I needed a moisturizing conditioner as most of my products have light protein in them. So I decided to see if this conditioner was as good as it smelled. I even got a second bottle, just in case it worked.

It claims to have a unique formula with 5 essential vitamins that help nourish, moisturize and hydrate hair leaving it looking and feeling thicker fuller and simply beautiful.

Fragrance: The main attraction. I know it's a little ignorant of me to buy a product based on smell, but I could resist the tantalizing coconut fragrance of the conditioner, and I don't like coconut or the smell on a normal day, so that says a lot!

Consistency: The Vo5 Silky Experiences Moisturizing Conditioner (N400/370ml) isn't very thick in itself, but don't be disappointed. I applied it to my dry hair in order to detangle for a co-wash and my hair instantly had volume (as opposed to the volume I normally have right?). I could feel my hair getting thicker as I detangled.

Slip: it does have some slip, but not as much as I'm used to and I had to apply a generous amount to each section of my head to be able to detangle without breakage.

Packaging: It comes in the regular Vo5 "A" shaped bottle, which I'm not to keen about, I tend to use up conditioners that come in jars for easy access. I'm not a fan of squeezing product out of bottles. The good thing about this is that the product isn't thick so it comes out of the bottle easily.

Effect: Ohhh yeahhh, this is a moisturizing conditioner alright. I absolutely love how my hair feels after Co washing with this conditioner. After detangling with it on dry hair, I rinsed it out with warm water as this helps to open up the cuticles of the hair and preps the hair for nourishment. Then I applied the conditioner again to each section, massaged it through and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I rinsed thoroughly with cold water, t-shirt dried my hair, and using only MG oil and castor oil as  leave-in, I air dried and styled my hair. It was soft,
manageable, thicker, and fully hydrated. It definitely
lived up to its expectations. I'm really glad I got two bottles of this conditioner, and since it's not a very common one, i'll be sure to grab it from anywhere I see it!

What products have you tried lately?

I had straight hair for about a week, and it started to get weighed down and clumped together from all the moisturizing and sealing. I needed to get some life back into it and I decided to show you guys what I do to revive my hair when it is weighed down.

I actually learned this technique years before my hair journey and I used it more for my sew ins, so this works on extensions too!
It's really easy, just follow these simple steps. And the best part: you don't need a comb!

1. Insert your fingers into your hair and give it a good shake.





2. Tip your head over and do the same thing. You don't need to do this for more than 10 or 15 seconds so you don't feel dizzy!





3. Flip your head up and use your fingers to adjust and smooth to your satisfaction and voila! 


No comb, no brush, just soft hair with lots of body and movement.

I've been using these products on my scalp and braids for a month now, and I decided it was time to review it. To be honest, I was a little skeptical about using these products because I don't really like to experiment with new products (I'm not a product junkie, sorry guys), and I just pictured all my hair falling off, but I ended up getting them anyway because I really wanted these braids to last.


Scalp Wash 100ml - N695

This product is gentle cleanser that removes build up without stripping the hair, or leaving the scalp dry. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I use this product once a week and I've noticed that my scalp is refreshed and my new growth retains more moisture, and the best part - it's waterless! No shower step involved here, just apply it to your scalp, leave in for one minute and then use a damp cotton pad to remove build up. I don't notice too much build up on the cotton  pad, but I love how my hair feels after I use it.

It comes in a soft gel form, which makes it a bit difficult to get out of the bottle (I have to squeeze really hard), but once its out, it easily melts into the hair.



Scalp Base Soother 250ml - N495

The consistency of this product is looser than a lotion, but it's not liquid. It lies somewhere in between. I have very dry scalp and this causes me to rely on a lot of hot oil treatments to help with this. Since I started using this product, I've stopped the hot oil treatments and simply just apply the oil to my scalp to seal in the moisture that the scalp soother provides. It's exactly as the name implies: it soothes my scalp and has a slight tingly sensation which I like.


July 4th, 2015: 3 weeks of having braids on. Making a total of one month and some days. My hair now falls on line 4.

 If you are on a hair journey, then you should know that using heat on your hair should be limited or eliminated completely. So how do you rock your straight styles if you are not using heat? Here's how:

1. Starting with freshly co washed hair, detangle your hair and pull it back into a pony tail at your nape area. This will take a longer time to dry, but your hair will be stretched as opposed to letting it air dry normally.

(Optional) lay down your edges with a scarf.

2. Once the hair is 100% dry, take down the ponytail and lightly detangle to remove any bumps or shed hairs that might exist before wrapping your hair. I wrap mine in a clocwise direction (from left to right)



Leave it overnight.

3. Take down your hair the next day, use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to gently separate and style.


And that's it! 1-2-3 BOOM! You wake up to beautiful  straight hair with lots of body. No roller setting. No blow drying. No flat iron.
