Relaxer day update
08:26:00So my relaxer day has finally come and gone, thank God! No more pressure to deal with: fear of over processing, fear of under processing... Fear fear fear. It's all gone. For now.
So I opted to relax my hair bone straight simply because I just couldn't handle all that pressure! Making sure the relaxer doesn't touch previously relaxed parts, sticking to a really short application time, coating your hair with petroleum jelly or conditioner, putting one table spoon of oil in the relaxer to reduce the effect... Ahhh! It was just too much.
I took my sweet precious time in relaxing my hair, in fact I kinda broke all the rules when it comes to relaxing. I relaxed using the profectiv mega growth relaxer in SUPER strength (I didn't even know it wasn't the Regular strength I bought until later). I divided my hair into for sections, then divided each section into smaller sections and twisting the ends in order to make the process smoother. I based my scalp with petroleum jelly, I didn't put conditioner or oil on my previously relaxed ends simply because I wanted to smooth out the previous parts that were underprocessed.
I didn't rush through the application and smoothing time; I didn't want any mistakes and I know I exceeded the recommended time because I didn't even bother to time myself lol! I smoothed over twice and even waited a few extra minutes before rinsing off. Well guess what? It still came out texlaxed!!! *sighs. Oh well, I'm super duper happy with the results, my hair didn't come out feeling crunchy at all. It was smooth, but with texture. I neutralised with the profectiv neutralising shampoo left it in for a minute, lathered and rinsed it out. I repeated this process 3 times to avoid any over processing that might occur.
I t-shirt dried for about 15 mins(I just wanted to soak up the excess water), then I deep conditioned with the profectiv megagrowth deep conditioner; I left it in for about 2 hours then rinsed it out. I applied the mega growth daily leave in strengthener, mega growth oil and fantasia heat protectant straightening serum (this product is AMAZING!!! It makes my hair silky and light) and proceeded to rollerset my hair.
The curls didn't last very long because I didn't it dry properly before taking out the rollers (I was too tired!) So I combed out the curls added a little leave in and serum and wrapped my hair overnight. The following day my hair was straight but still had volume. Awesome!
Final results!
I pretty much lost all the length I had attained because of thin ends and my nasty habit of constantly touching my hair, but it doesn't matter. My hair is thicker and has never felt better. I guess I have achieved health, now it's time to gain length!
I gotta say that my "tried and true" product is this mega growth relaxer. I've been using it for almost two years now, waaay before I started this hair journey or buying the entire line. I've never had and sad or sorry cases even when it was someone else relaxing my hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft and beautiful.
How was your wash day? What are you "tried and true" products? Have you relaxed your hair recently?
