No-Heat "Blow Out" on Natural hair

13:06:00

My wash day routine hasn't changed much since I became natural, except of course, I've started using more organic products and products tailored for natural textures. Basically, I keep it really simple. Here's how this wash day went:

Products used:
- African Naturalistas Deep Conditioning Mayonnaise
- Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk
- Oils: Castor oil, Coconut oil, Peppermint, Rosemary, and Lavender oils.

-Deep Conditioned: I parted my hair into eight sections: three in front, three in the middle, and two in the back. I applied AN deep conditioning mayonnaise to each section, covered it in a metallic shower cap, and let it sit for 3 hours.

- Detangled: After deep conditioning, my hair felt like butter! The tangles practically melted away, and using my fingers and a wide toothed comb, I detangled my entire head in a record of 30 minutes. I first applied a little of the oil mixture described above on my finger tips, and then proceeded to remove any knots or tangles first, before using the wide toothed comb to detangle.

- Rinse & Leave-ins: I rinsed out all the product throughly with warm water, (Tip: warm water helps to remove product build up and opens up the hair cuticles) and then towel-dried for about 10 minutes to soak up all the excess water before applying the CRN Curl love moisture milk as my leave in.

- Stretched: After applying my leave-in and detangling once more, I parted my hair in small sections and braided it, in order for my hair to dry in a stretched state without any heat. I covered my hair with a satin scarf and left it in overnight.

- Banded: The next day, I took out the single braids, combed it out, and created 5 big sections on my head. I tied each section with 2 -3 hair bands to stretch it even more.

And that's it! I took out the scruches, fluffed and buffed with my fingers, and voila!

Now I wish the hair could just braid itself 😒😒😒

What's your wash day like? How do you stretch your hair?

  1. Love your hair. I usually stretch my hair in big twists. I once tried banding, but my hair shrank in between those spaces on the band.
